Indigenous Plant Atlas of Namibia Enriched by Citizen Science

Despite the recent drought in Namibia and several issues with uploading records and photos onto the Environmental Information Service (EIS) Indigenous Plant Atlas, JRS grantee Namibian Chamber of Environment received a huge volume of records during their first Near-Endemic Plant Project Photo Competition ending in August 2024.

In a creative effort to collate the extensive but scattered information on Namibian plants into a freely accessible and easily understandable resource, Project Director Herta Kolberg initiated the photo competition to collect as many records as possible to add to the EIS Plant Information System.  Citizen Scientists responded to the call and delivered a huge variety of photos photos of Near-Endemic plants.

Details for the Near-Endemic Plants Photo Competition Round 2. Deadline October 31, 2025.
