JOB/INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION
BIODIVERSITY INFORMATION INTERN: The Biodiversity Information internship position seeks a graduate level intern to assist with technical grant profiles and news posts on the JRS website (https://jrsbiodiversity.org/grant/) and maintenance of our social media channels. The work will include the review of grantee progress reports and their translation into less technical terms for the website, news posts, e-newsletters, and social media. The intern will get a great view of biodiversity data and information research projects from the inside as well as an understanding of how a strategic philanthropy operates and communicates. Duties will include preparing posts for the JRS website and other communications. You’ll work directly for the energetic and generally amusing Executive Director. Highly flexible hours, cool office in Fremont and remote work, too!
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Current graduate student in Biology, Biodiversity, Ecology, Conservation, Biostatistics, Quantitative Ecology, Resource Management, or related field. Broad interests or experience in biodiversity science and conservation preferred as is experience in data and information sciences. Demonstrated technical writing ability and knowledge of or interest in biodiversity or ecology a must. Prior experience with WordPress or other content management systems scores bonus points as is experience with MailChimp, Twitter, and management of Facebook pages.
